Attorney Bruce Colodny
Firearms Lawyer Bruce Colodny, The California Gun Attorney, is a graduate of University of California, Irvine (B.A. degree in Economics, 1977) and Southwestern University School of Law, Los Angeles (Juris Doctor degree, 1982). Upon completing law school he successfully sat for the California Bar Examination and established the firm with the intent of defending and upholding the Second Amendment. He is admitted to practice before all the State and Federal District Courts in California, as well as the Ninth Circuit of the United States Court of Appeal and the United States Supreme Court.
Bruce Colodny has represented the American Entertainment Armories Association, the Law Enforcement Alliance of America and the California Rifle and Pistol Association in major cases before the California Court of Appeals and he is consulted by other firms for advice and guidance with Second Amendment cases they are handling.
Since founding the firm 30 years ago, Bruce Colodny has focused his practice on both California and Federal cases involving firearms, weapons, and related matters. He has a long record of courtroom victories in defending criminal prosecutions against both State and Federal criminal charges involving machine guns, silencers, destructive devices, unregistered “assault weapons”, use of firearms for self-defense, brandishing, assault, loaded and concealed weapons, weapons in airports, unlawful sales, unlawful discharge, shooting in restricted areas and he has represented numerous firearms dealers, importers and manufacturers in licensing matters with the California Department of Justice Firearms Bureau and the Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
As a noted authority in his field, Bruce Colodny is regularly contacted by television and newspaper reporters for interviews and comments on legal issues and court decisions. Other attorneys frequently consult him and refer a wide variety of complex firearm cases.
Always active in organizations that support the Second Amendment, Bruce Colodny became a life member of the National Rifle Association (NRA) in 1977 and is an active member in NRA fund raisers through donations and as the guest speaker at countless dinners and meetings. He had the privilege of serving as the Chairman of the Inland Empire Friends of the NRA Committee. After joining the California Rifle and Pistol Association (CRPA) as a life member in 1983, he has served on the Board of Directors continuously for the last 22 years and he has also served as the Chairman of the CRPA Legal Committee and as a member of many of other CRPA committees.
Bruce Colodny is a member of the Benevolent & Protected Order of the Elks, San Bernardino Lodge 836. In addition to the above-mentioned organizations, he has belonged to TMPSA (Television and Motion Picture Shooting Association) and the Inland Fish and Game Conservation Association as a long-term member.

Bruce Colodny is a trophy winning and competitive shooter including trap, skeet, sporting clays, high power rifle and NRA short course pistol. He is also collector of firearms with a primary interest in pre-1946 curio or relic firearms.
